At Style Files this month, lifestyle blogger Kim Jones of Miss Jones, shares how she dresses for the festive period. First of a four-part series, learn more about Kim and her fashionable life.

Hi Kim, could you introduce yourself to Style Files readers?
Currently, I am the content creator for my website Miss Jones ( I am also in the process of expanding with some very exciting, albeit a teeny bit scary, collaborations coming up in 2015. I am also a TV host, and I have recently accepted an Editor-in-Chief position for a beauty publication.

How would you describe your style?
To be honest, I always have trouble describing my style because I enjoy experimenting with different looks. I would never want to limit myself or take it all too seriously, I love trying new things – especially in fashion. If I like what I see, I wear it. Most of the time, I am drawn to simple pieces with 50’s silhouettes – full skirts, cinched waists etc. I love to have fun with colours and prints and anything that makes me feel feminine and empowered.

What does Christmas mean to you?
Christmas is very dear to my heart. A lot of my favourite memories growing up were of Christmas and of the fellowship that goes with it. I’m very big on family traditions and it’s very important to me to have the family all together, just enjoying each other’s company, celebrating.

What are some styles you would try this Christmas?
Right now, the trends I’m incorporating into my wardrobe are primarily to help keep my head above water during the busy season.

I’ll be living in my oxfords – I plan to do away with the heels for all the Christmas parties and prioritise comfort.

Next, I’m sticking to all white – it’s clean, minimal and can be very striking with the right silhouettes.

Lastly, I’ll be doing a lot of layering. Think t-shirts under dresses, polo necks under bustiers, it’s a great way to spice up an old cocktail dress or LBD.

What accessories styles do you avoid?
You will always find a solid, structured bag in my closet. I am not a huge fan of the softer leathers simply because of the shape. I love the statement a bag like that makes. I will admit, I do feel all the more empowered when I pick up a beautifully built bag.

What are some of your favourite designer brands?
Prada – I am a huge fan of their handbags in saffiano leather. It’s perfect if you’re like me and you are a little clumsy – the leather is virtually scratch resistant.
Céline – It’s streamlined, clean and edgy, I am a minimalist at heart and Phoebe Philo does it impeccably. Their bags are stunning, the Yellow Mini Belt Bag is one of my dream bags!
Chanel – I think this would be on almost every woman’s favourites list. I find their vintage pieces so enamouring. I dream of owning a pair of vintage Chanel earrings that I could pass on to my family generations from now.

Highly inspired by her all-white ensemble, I might just do a White Christmas festive look at my next party! Incorporate some of Kim’s style into your holiday style this month!
